Cut Flower Care Tips...

Below are tips for keeping your cut flower fresh:

·         Add fresh, warm (not hot) water daily.

·         Change water every 2-3 days, add preservative.  (Tip:  Use a turkey basting bulb to remove water.)

·         Re-cut ends of stems about 1/2" diagonally under water every 2-3 days.

·         Keep vases clean.  Rule of thumb - It should be clean enough to drink from.

·         Remove any leaves that touch or drop into the water to prevent decay/bacteria.

·         Avoid direct sunlight.

·         Avoid drafts from windows, fans, and vents.

·         Keep in cool areas away from heater vents, stove, or TV.

·         If you'll be gone, move flowers to refrigerator (above 35o F) or to a cool area in your house.

·         Don't place/store flowers near fruit due to the ethylene gas emitted by the fruit.  The ethylene gas will shorten vase life of flowers.
